Scabies IPC Policy for General Practice.
Scabies is due to a parasitic mite Sarcoptes scabiei. They are too small to be seen by the naked eye. The females lays eggs in burrows several millimetres in length under the surface of the skin.
After 3-4 days, larvae emerge to mature on the skin surface and then make new burrows. They mature, mate, and repeat this cycle which takes 1-2 weeks.
A downloadable Community IPC Policy for General Practice which can be adopted by your organisation is available below. Also suitable for use within Dental Practice and Podiatry.
Alternatively, a complete set of IPC Policies are available to purchase @ £85.99, including postage – details can be found on the flyer and resource order form.
