Safe management of the care environment IPC Policy for General Practice
Please note: We have been made aware that it is not currently mandatory for GP Practices to comply with the ‘National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness 2021’. However, it is seen as best practice by NHS England and NHS Improvement.
The cleanliness of the environment is important to support infection prevention and control, help reduce the incidence of healthcare associated infections and ensure patient confidence.
There should be a designated lead for cleaning and disinfection of the environment, who may be the same person as the lead for infection prevention.
