This Policy is one of the ‘Standard infection control precautions’ (SICPs) referred to by NHS England in the National infection prevention and control manual (NIPCM) for England.
Linen used in care homes can become soiled with blood, faeces and other body fluids containing microorganisms, such as bacteria and viruses. Therefore, when handling used, soiled, fouled and infectious linen, it is essential that care is taken to prevent the spread of infection.
A downloadable Community Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Policy which can be adopted by your organisation is available below. Alternatively, a complete set of IPC Policies for Care Home settings is available to purchase @ £89.99, including postage – details can be found on the flyer and resource order form.
