GP 09 Notifiable diseases
Updated terminology to Mpox (Monkeypox), previously referred to as Monkeypox.
GP 14 Respiratory and cough hygiene
Updated to reflect the content of the ‘Standard infection control precaution’ (SICP) in the National infection prevention and control manual (NIPCM) for England.
GP 21 Scabies
Updated in accordance with UKHSA guidance on the management of scabies cases and outbreaks in long-term care facilities and other closed settings – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk), updated January 2023. This was published to address variations in recommendations for practice. It includes information on the ability of mites to live away from the host for up to 4 days and the lack of evidence regarding whether this is significant in transmission. There is also revised guidance on the treatment regime
for contacts of cases with scabies.
GP 25 Viral gastroenteritis/Norovirus
Updated in accordance with the Healthcare Infection Society Norovirus guidelines | Healthcare Infection Society – Healthcare Infection Society (his.org.uk) February 2023. This includes use of eye protection and a fluid resistant surgical mask (FRSM) for assessment of patients with vomiting.
